Packaging and storage considerations for dried citrus ingredients

Packaging and storage are not final administrative details. They affect how a dried ingredient is protected, identified and handled through transport, warehouse receipt and production use.

Match the pack to the material and journey

A packaging discussion should consider the format, order quantity, risk of breakage, required barrier properties, destination climate and handling method. Tell us whether material will move by parcel, pallet, container or another agreed method.

For reference, public customs data records a Grandstyle Global container shipment of dried orange and lemon peel packed in 607 bags. Packing for your order is agreed in writing for your product and route.

Write storage expectations clearly

General good practice is to keep dried ingredients protected from moisture, direct sunlight, strong odours, pests and physical damage. Ask for the storage statement and shelf-life information for your specific product and pack.

A warehouse team should receive the storage statement, lot details and any handling instructions with the product documentation. This reduces the risk of separating material from its identifying information.

Plan for receipt and release

Before dispatch, agree who checks the delivery, what documents travel with it and what happens if a pack is damaged or a document is missing. This is particularly useful for cross-border supply.

For a first commercial order, a short written release checklist can cover product name, lot, format, quantity, pack configuration, documentation and destination.
